Club meetings this week - Tues the 31st and Thurs the 2nd

Our theme for the Tuesday evening meeting

is green.  Come with a Joke or card trick. We aim for fun. Bring a friend or two and join in. Jennisfer Day will be the guest speaker. Jennifer will share information about the proposed Rockport Cultural Arts District. What it is, what funding it provides to the community, who is involved, and what the timeline is.

Meeting is from 6-7 pm at the Key Allegro Yacht Club. Drinks, appetizers and/or dinner can be ordered.

Our program at the Thursday Noon Meeting

is our scholarship students. Myra Kline and Steve Clarkson presented the scholarships from the Rockport Rotary Club Charles A. Evans Scholarship Foundation to 21 students on Thursday even, May 26, 2016. They will be visiting the club and sharing some thoughts on receiving the scholarship and their future plans.
Today's students include: Cameron Childers, Case Western Reserve, Jenny Beth Harris, Texas Tech, Madison Stacy,  UT-Austin, Amber Breaux,  Art Institute of Houston, Rayanne Garcia,  Texas State University, and Meredith Lanningham,  Baylor Honors College.

Service Project - Providing Comfort & Joy
The Evening Meeting has started working on our first service project - bags of comfort and joy for children in crisis. We are working to find a connection through the CPS and/or Police department.
Please collect as many as possible of the items below, or any other children’s items that would fit in a mid-sized bag. Items must be new, non-violent, and non-denominational. No food or candy, please. We are targeting two age groups 12 and under and over 12.

Here’s a list of suggestions to get you started:

  • Stuffed animals
  • Coloring books & crayons
  • Small toys for all ages
  • School supplies and stationery
  • Small toiletries: travel-size toothbrush/toothpaste, hotel soap and shampoo etc
  • Items for teens/tweens:  games, young-adult books, deodorant, makeup, trading cards
  • Baby Stuff – rattles, pacifiers, bibs, diapers, baby clothes
  • Books, journals or diaries
  • Clothing of all kinds – t-shirts, baseball hats, knit caps, scarves, socks, shoes, underwear
  • Hand held games
