On Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, individuals from the Rockport Rotary Club International, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Rockport Fulton High School NJROTC, R-F High School Interact Club and some community volunteers met for the fall Pearl Street Trash Pick-up. Our task was to pick up trash alongside a two mile length of Pearl Street/Hwy 2165 from Linden north beyond the bypass to the Hwy 1781 intersection, on both sides of the roadway. More than twenty people participated and enjoyed a bright, cool day to beautify Rockport. Rotary Club organizers, Adelaide Marlatt, Sig Murphy and Kari Kelley were pleased with the turnout and the results; about 15 bags of trash were picked up and will be disposed of properly by TexDOT employees.

Some participants noted that there were very few plastic bottles to be picked up, which may be good sign that our city recycling effort is succeeding. Unrecyclable Styrofoam cups, however, were everywhere.

We got it done and I have so many people to thank.  We had about 24 people participating:
10 - Rotary (including Young helpers)
2 - Interact Club
3 - NJROTC
10 - Church of Latter Day Saints
